I had an older Canon Rebel camera that I bought David Busch's manual for several years ago. I was sold on his style of presentation and the practical information that he provided for that camera. So when I got my new 70D, I couldn't wait for this book to be published. It was a no-brainer to choose it above the other offerings out there for the camera. Not only is the information extremely usable for anyone from a beginner to a more advanced photographer, the pictures he includes are beautiful and colorful. And that includes photos of the camera and its features as well as ones of what the camera can capture. There are pictures both of great photos and of photos that turn out wrong, with an explanation of why they do. The book is composed of heavy stock, slick paper pages that almost make it a 'coffee table' book. Kudos to Mr. Busch and the quality he puts into his work!

I cam close to giving this two stars, but it does have a lot of information, and it could be useful to a person who's not familiar with photography, so it gets an extra star for that, and perhaps because I was overly optimistic, thinking the book was primarily about how to set up and use the camera, not an attempted introduction to photography.
I bought this book hoping it would be a quick reference to setup and use of the Canon 70D. It does contain information on those things, but it seems to be oriented to the person who has little or no knowledge of photography or digital cameras. For that readership, this might be a good introduction. For the person who's been using Canon digital cameras and is familiar with photography in general, this book is too cluttered and far too wordy. I felt as if I was wasting my time, plowing through many dozens of pages which had no interest for me and which, frankly, were not helpful.
The book does have an index, but at least in the electronic edition, there are no page references in the index, and there are no links to pages in the book - that is, you can't tap on a topic in the index and go to the page where the information is found, as you can in some other electronic texts. I hope the paper edition has page references. Otherwise, what's the point of an index in the first place?
