Like many others, my work requires me spending countless hours each day in front of the computer. This happened after I graduated from college about 4 years ago. I went from walking, or biking to school to driving to work on a daily basis. Everything, including my lifestyle, revolved around work for e.g. driving, eating fast food, not working out, spending countless hours watching TV and YouTube, drinking on a regular basis, now also with co-workers and not just friends. I put on nearly 40 pounds of fat in just a matter of months (8 to be precise). Then, I came across the magical world of diets.

Dieting phase: First, the Atkins diet: this phase lasted for a month ended up losing about 10 pounds of fat and muscle. After a month, my body was craving carbohydrates like never before; ended up putting 15 pounds of fat in a month. Second, I stumbled on a documentary on Netflix called Big, Fat and Nearly Dead and viola, I bought an expensive juicer and motivated myself to get on a raw food juice diet. This phase lasted for, excruciatingly long, 15 days. Ended up losing 15 pounds in 15 days; and put on 20 in the following month after quitting.

Work out phases: Finally, after many unsuccessful attempts of dieting I decided its time to start working out. Started hitting the weights hard. Would work out on a daily basis (5 days/week) for 2 and half hours which included 30 mins of cardio and the rest lifting weights. This phase lasted for about 2 months, in which I managed to lose nearly 10 pounds of fat with significant strength gains but very little gains in size. However, 2 1/2 hours of daily workouts took a toll on my body. I started having injuries which led to frequent skipping of workouts. Later, it took a toll on my mind and will power.
